This piece was inspired by a photograph taken in my hometown of Vancouver, Washington — a place filled with familiar roads and quiet moments that stay with you long after you’ve walked them. I was drawn to the feeling more than the image itself: the calm of an autumn walk, the rhythm of footsteps on wet pavement, and the way color seems to hold memory.

The textured leaves and layered paint create depth you can both see and feel, echoing how memories build over time — imperfect, vivid, and alive. The lone figure walking forward invites you into the scene, leaving space for your own story to step in.

The Road I Remember is about reflection, movement, and the quiet beauty found in places that shaped us. It’s a reminder that sometimes the roads we carry with us are just as powerful as the ones we walk.
